Aristree Festival (formerly Localpalooza) will take place in Downtown Norfolk over a three day period beginning October 23, 2014 and ending October 25, 2014. The Festival will feature over 100 local and regional bands performing live music at 10 different indoor venues and on 3-4 outdoor stages. Over the past 5 years, the Festival has also worked with the Funny Bone Comedy Club to bring in local and regional comedians and plans to continue this partnership in 2014. An added element this year will be the screening of films produced and directed by local film makers. In addition to the various forms of entertainment the weekend will offer, Artistree Festival will also feature education panels on topics such as record labels, screen printing, live sound, and music education.
Bringing communities together to help celebrate local and regional music and arts has always been our main goal. In doing so, the Festival has also been able to raise a considerable amount of money for various local charities. Over the years Artistree has made a positive impact on Coastal Virginia’s economic growth and developed long lasting relationships with press outlets and local philanthropists. We plan to continue to further our impact on both the local economy and the charities who work to benefit our local community.
Associated Charities:
VA Beach SPCA (2011)
4Kids (2012)
Operation Smile (2013)
Music 4 More (2014)
This year the Festival will be working with Music 4 More. Music 4 More is a 501(c)3 charity organization that launched in Baltimore in 2009. Their primary focus is collecting instrument donations and recycling them into struggling school and community music programs. Since their launch, Music 4 More has donated over 400 instruments to schools, after school programs and community initiatives. Thanks to the efforts of Artistree Festival Organizer, Rob Devinney, one of the program’s most recent beneficiaries was Oscar Smith Middle School in Chesapeake, VA. Rob’s existing relationship with Music 4 More has allowed us to secure three schools in Norfolk, VA, Chesterfield Elementary , Blair Middle School and Granby High School will be recipients of this year’s donation.
The festival features a diverse lineup of genres with National and Regional artists.
