Tonya Kaye made her start at Jokers Comedy Club in Oklahoma City. She initially joined an Improvisation Troupe and performed an unrehearsed show for audiences using her natural wit and humor. During that time she was developing her own comedic style and quickly had enough material to go solo. Within three months she took her show “on the road”, and began to get noticed by other talent and agencies alike going on to perform in comedy clubs, colleges and private venues across 42 states. She has worked with such names as Larry the Cable Guy and Tommy Chong, and was personally mentored by the late, great Jonathan Winters.
She was twice invited by the Department of Defense to entertain the American troops on two tours overseas to Bahrain, Germany, Okinawa, Japan and Korea. Then she told them some jokes!
Tonya Kaye has spent the last decade honing her skills not only as a comic but as an actress as well. She has appeared as background talent on television shows and movie projects to include the Original Man Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, West Wing, Law and Order, Boomtown, and Looney Tunes the Movie.
She started her comedy career as a wife and mother of two young children. The kids grew up, her husband never did. Now the kids are grown and she is living the single life again….at 52. Not an easy task living in the retirement capital of the nation. Another topic she likes to tackle. Growing old isn’t easy, and that makes it funny! She takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary.
Most recently she has been offered a development deal to put together a male/female comedy team act, a “new age” Burns and Allen. She will partner with a fellow comedian from Portland, Oregon, DC Malone. Together they have traveled the world working as a co-headline team. Now, for the first time, they will combine their talent into one unbelievable act. Wait for it. It’s coming in a big way.
Tonya Kaye is a force to be reckoned with as she spins her down home humor behind flawless beauty and a wicked southern drawl. She holds nothing back in her fast paced and unexpurgated look within herself and the world around her. Her likeability the moment she walks onstage is obvious, and you would never expect the Pandora’s Box of comedy tidbits about to be unleashed on an unsuspecting audience. Fasten your seat belts folks, its going to be a bumpy night! ONE NIGHT ONLY
