Friends, to commemorate the centenary of one of Urdu language’s iconic modern poets Akhtar ul Iman, Writers Forum will introduce the Akhtar ul Iman number of Urdu Adab, the quarterly journal of Anjuman Tarraqi Urdu Hind.


This special edition is rich with valuable articles about Akhtar ul Iman and includes his works. Authors include various major names of Urdu literature.


The journal was sold out immediately after its publication, and has now been reprinted in book form.


Some copies will be available for purchase at the event, for $ 15, and will include a one year complimentary subscription to the journal.

It is worth mentionong that Writers Froum celebrated Akhtar ul Iman's 70th birthday in 1985 when he visited Canada. He also visited Canada in 1980.

Akhtar ul Iman (1915–1996) was a noted Urdu poet and screenwriter in Hindi cinema, who had a major influence on modern Urdu nazm. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue in 1963 for Dharmputra and 1966 for Waqt. He was awarded the 1962 Sahitya Akademi Award in Urdu, for his Poetry Collection, Yadein (Memories), by Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters
