Uncle Kurtis
Asheville-based Psyche-Punk band Uncle Kurtis is Graham Barrineau on drums, Riley Darnell on lead vocals, Jackson Lee on guitar and vocals, and Quinn Sforza on bass. Uncle Kurtis' set-list of all original songs blends their interests in punk, prog-rock, metal and classic rock. Currently enrolled as eighth grade students at the ArtSpace Charter School in Swannanoa, Uncle Kurtis has risen from Experience Music of Asheville, thanks in part to mentors Billy Litz and Sean McCann of the popular local band, Hustle Souls.
Uncle Kurtis had its debut as part of the Experience Music Showcase at Salvage Station in August, 2017. Their next performance at the Fall edition of the Lake Eden Arts Festival was recorded, and in the hands of Asheville FM DJ Steven Howard and his colleagues, their original tracks "Back to Iowa," "Circus Time," "Pigeons" and "Worst Song Ever" have been getting regular airplay ever since. In fact, "Uncle Kurtis – Live at 2017 LEAF" debuted in the #21 spot on the station's Top 30 List of LP Releases in early December.
The band hit the studio in November to record their first LP, which is entitled "Let's Kill Uncle Kurtis." While spending time polishing up the album for a springtime release, the band is also stoked to build its audience in Asheville and beyond in the weeks to come. The latest Uncle Kurtis music videos, hijinks and performance updates are available on Facebook (http://facebook.com/unclekurtis2017) and Instagram (http://instagram.com/uncle.kurtis.band).
