The honesty found between Spiro and Nicole Nicolopoulos of The Paper Crowns draws from the great duo/couples of the past: Johnny Cash and June Carter, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge. It is the kind of honest connection where the rest of the world seems to disappear while they’re playing and singing to each other.
The duo’s connection began in a mom and pop music store in Southern California while both teaching music lessons. And as their personal connection bloomed, so did their music. Between 2013-14 they played over 150 shows, got married, and hauled all of their worldly possessions with their dog Walter from Los Angeles to Asheville, North Carolina where they now call home.
A 3,000 mile pilgrimage is a big jump for newlyweds, but Spiro’s original trek was from even further away, the island of Okinawa. It was there Spiro’s father met his mother while stationed in the Marines. The new family moved to the melting pot of Southern California just in time for their young son to be exposed to punk rock, hip-hop, and later, the Grateful Dead. Nicole was born and raised in Southern California, and grew up fast performing in bars and small clubs by the age of 16. She later graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in music from the University of LaVerne. Collectively, they have performed at events such as Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Summer Meltdown, Baja Bash, The House of Blues, B.B. King's Blues Club, The Sawdust Festival, Pappy & Harriet's, and shared stages with many acts including Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Radiohead, My Morning Jacket, ALO, and Phil Lesh.
The exposure from such great festivals and clubs, and rubbing elbows with great acts has started to pay off. The Paper Crowns were voted Best Country Band in the IE weekly Reader's Poll 2013. They have recently been featured on Dead Show Of the Month, Vinyl Hours Radio, PE Live with Vanessa Franko, Local Color Live WNCW with Laura Blackley, and The WDVX Blue Plate Special.
The Paper Crowns are currently finding inspiration in their new Appalachian home, and spending the winter recording the follow up to their 2012 debut album, "See You Tonight”.

Damn Tall Buildings

Damn Tall Buildings was born in January of 2013 on Newbury Street in Boston, MA. Through busking, they practiced and performed on the street, creating their unique style of Blues, Western Swing and Bluegrass that they call Guerrilla Roots. Soon they moved into traditional venues, bringing all of what they learned busking with them. Since then, Damn Tall Buildings has performed in dozens of venues throughout New England, the East coast and Montana.
Priding themselves on their rigorous tour schedule, Damn Tall Buildings has polished their live performance, which now includes music, dancing, comedy and at times, fun facts from banjo player Jordan Alleman. DTB has performed in notable venues such as the Ardmore Music Hall in Philadelphia, PA, Nectar’s in Burlington Vermont, Live From the Divide at Peach Street Studios in Bozeman, MT and the Camel in Richmond, VA. They have also performed on the main stage in music festivals throughout the New England area, including Berkleefest in Stowe, VT and Otis Mountain Get Down in Elizabethtown, NY. Last April, Damn Tall Buildings released their first full-length record, ‘Cure-All’. Their second studio recording, 'Damn Tall Buildings', was released July 23rd, 2015.
