With a style that draws comparisons to J.J. Cale and Daniel Lanois, Ray Bonneville is a blues-influenced, New Orleans-inspired song and groove man. Born in Quebec, Ray moved to Boston and served a year in Vietnam as a Marine, struggled and overcame drug addiction, earned a pilot’s licence in Colorado and moved to Alaska, Seattle, Paris, and New Orleans. Ray’s gritty narratives are inspired by a lifetime of hard-won knowledge, set against his soulful guitar and harmonica playing. Ray is backed up by his running-partner, piano player Richie Lawrence.
