Martin Barre ist seit 1969 Leadgitarrist der britischen Band Jethro Tull und gilt in Fachkreisen als einer der besten Rockgitarristen der Welt.

Martin Barre has been the guitarist of Jethro Tull for 43 years, his sound and playing having been a major factor in their success. Album sales have exceeded 60 million units and they continue to be played worldwide, representing an important part of classic rock history.

Martin’s guitar playing has earned him a high level of respect and recognition; he was voted 25th best solo ever in the USA and 20th best solo ever in the UK for his playing on 'Aqualung'. His playing on the album ‘Crest of a Knave’ earned him a Grammy award in 1988.

As well as numerous Jethro Tull albums, Martin has worked with many other artists including Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Gary Moore, Jo Bonamassa and Chris Thompson and has shared a stage with such legends as Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.

As Jethro Tull are taking a long break from touring, Martin has put together a band to play the "classic" music from the Tull catalogue. His band is a total commitment to give the Tull fans and a broader audience the chance to hear tracks not performed for many years. The band includes top musicians from a similar background.

Musicians' Bios

Dan Crisp (vocals/acoustic/bouzouki) was born in Bournemouth, England and introduced to music at an early age. A keen and talented music student at Somerset College of Arts and Technology, Dan utilised the opportunity to front a college band, playing local pubs and clubs around Taunton, Somerset. In 2001, Dan’s early writing and recording was spotted by Brent Treloar of Upbeat Music, who encouraged him to form a band with friend and bassist Alan Bray (Ska’d For Life, Squid 58) and Roger Luxton on Drums. This collaboration, linked with an introduction to Martin Barre (Jethro Tull) gave Dan the confidence to develop his own distinctive writing and vocal style. A series of acoustic gigs featuring Dan, Martin and Alan followed, including a sell-out performance at Exeter’s Phoenix Theater.
Dan’s debut album, Far From Here, was released in 2008. Its 12 tracks depict the life and key events of a fictional character tackling challenges such as rebellion, falling in love, getting a grip on life, winning and losing and the realisation of one’s place in the world. It features members of Fairport Convention and the John Martyn Band, including Gerry Conway (Percussion), Arran Ahmun (Drums), Spencer Cozens (Piano), Alan Bray (Bass) and Chris Leslie (Violin).

George Lindsay (drums) started playing drums at five years old when his parents bought him his first kit. He studied with various teachers around the UK, and graduated from college with a triple distinction in music practice. At 18, he dived head-first into music and never looked back. He has toured extensively throughout the UK, performing and recording with artists such as Futures, The King Blues, Layla, and Nicholas Stevenson.

Richard Beesley graduated from London's Guildhall School of Music and has gone on to become one of London's most versatile session players. He has recorded and played with diverse artists such as Michael Buble, Mark Ronson, the Brand New Heavies, The BBC Big Band, Madness, Kyle Eastwood and Tony Hadley. He has also toured with many soul legends such as The Funk Brothers, The Stylistics, The Supremes and the Temptations. Around London Richard plays with top funk outfits "Dotfunk", and the PB Underground with the Hit Horns, and regularly plays with newly established world music group "Bansangu Orchestra".

Alan Thomson is a bass player in Martin Barre's Band and a long term member of John Martyn’s Band plus an accomplished song-writer. His touring and writing credits include Robert Palmer, Rick Wakeman, Andy Summers, Bo Diddley, Denny Laine and Long John Baldry to name a few.
