Hard Working Americans
Hard Working Americans are celebrating great songs and throwing a hell of a party.
The band is proud to introduce their self-titled debut album, scheduled for release January 21st on Melvin Records and Thirty Tigers. These five veteran players are putting in the hours and keeping at the grind for music lovers everywhere.
Clocking in for the night shift:
Todd Snider - Vocals
Dave Schools - Bass Guitar (Widespread Panic)
Neal Casal - Guitars and Vocals (Cardinals and Chris Robinson Brotherhood)
Chad Staehly - Keys (Great American Taxi)
Duane Trucks - Drums (Col. Bruce Hampton's School of Music)
Jesse Aycock - Guitar and Vocals
Led by Snider's intrepid vocals and backed by a band of ace players, the Hard Working Americans created fresh song arrangements to tell stories of the everyman and woman- the frustrated and downtrodden, the gritty and gorgeous, the blue-collar and no-collar- hard working folks that give this country a backbone.
Recorded at Bob Weir's TRI Studios in San Rafael, CA, the album was produced by Dave Schools and Todd Snider and mixed by John Keane. Special guest artists include John Popper and John Keane.

The Congress
With their noses to the grindstone for the past few years, The Congress hasn't had a moment to notice their ever changing surroundings. They have been on headlining tours from California to Virginia, on support tours opening multiple nights for the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lake Street Dive, and Hard Working Americans, and have been incessantly playing their home turf in the Rocky Mountains when in between coasts. The Congress has also succumbed to a growing writing habit that will culminate in the band's second full length album in early 2015. The follow-up to the universally celebrated soul EP The Loft Tapes will feature tunes written by individual members and perfected through countless hours on the road and in the studio.
The Congress' recent incubation has led to a Muscle Shoals-esque tightness developed over hundreds of shows per year. Last year's addition of Virginia native Chris "Bernie" Speasmaker on keyboards injected a relentless energy into the former trio, stamping a tangible sonic signature on the band that is equal parts rock & roll, old-school soul music, and outlaw country. An obsession with rhythmic feel, songwriting, and instrumental mastery has only been further developed as the band served as a backup unit on several studio records and countless live shows.
With new and burgeoning success in markets across the United States, it is without doubt that The Congress will make their boldest statement with the next record, perhaps its most visible outside of the confines of word of mouth where the band has garnered an exalted reputation in the music community. Continuing their transformation from "rising Colorado stars" (Westword) to "one of this generations great musical acts" (Florida Music Journal).
Founded by Scott Lane and Jonathan Meadows in Richmond, VA, The Congress brings notions of genuine musicianship and inventive songwriting to a modern world of dubious cosmetic sound. Anchored by Jonathan's throw-back soul tenor vocals and Scott's immersive guitar licks, The Congress is a band of real musicians with real instruments playing real music. Their brand of Rock & Roll is neither nostalgic nor progressive. It occupies the space between vintage sounds and the hyperbolic cynicism of our post-modern world.
Keyboardist, Chris "Berndog" Speasmaker, masterfully accents each tune with everything from throaty Leslie riffs and New Orleans dixiecrat piano to pounding electro-funk lines. Denver native and conservatory-trained-bad-ass Mark Levy holds down the drums with elegant precision and explosive dynamism. Encompassing genres ranging from traditional country and blues to modern rock and grooves, The Congress must be heard to be believed. And believe it you will. The talent, craftsmanship, and attitude of The Congress come together to create something beautiful and real. Rock & Roll.
