We will re-live classic moments of Krylati which have been caught on camera since the creation of the group.

Come down for a reunion, a night of nostalgia - it may even inspire you to don the famous red boots of Krylati on one more time!

There will be a performance from today's crop of dancers, food, laughs and much more!

The history of Krylati -

A Ukrainian dance group has been in existence in Bradford since 1948 following the migration of quite a large number of Ukrainians after the second World War. In 1963 the group was reorganised and adopted the name “Krylati” (translated this means the winged ones). The ballet-master and choreographer Ostap Buriak became its director who was active until his death in 1995. He trained two young choreographers, Olha Stepovanna and the late Mykhailo Diakiw, as his successors. Olha Stepovanna taught the group until 2007, Mychajlo Shutak took on the task as the teacher after numerous years of dancing under all three previous choreographers. From the sixties to the present day the group has represented Bradford Ukrainians in numerous festivals and has appeared several times on T.V. The group was invited many times to the international Eisteddfod in Llangollen it also performed at Bradford Theatres the Alhambra and St Georges Hall.

The present members of the group are second and third generation dancers of the original Krylati dance group.

Now after more than 60 years, our dancers continue to learn the basic steps of Ukrainian dance from each of the distinct regions of Ukraine. We also continue to teach Ukrainian dance in a fashion that promotes fun, new friendships, and an unique learning environment that ultimately helps keep the Ukrainian heritage alive! The group devotes its rehearsals to cultural development, exercise and recreation, while promoting excellence and creativity.
